A megaphone in purple, peach and green, with words coming out of it saying I am not a taboo!

I am not a taboo!

A community and reference space for 2SLGBTQIA+ ELT Professionals and Allies
It’s time for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and allies in English Language Teaching (ELT) to come together.

This is a space free from any kind of hate speech. Any comments or forum replies that displays hate speech of any kind WILL be deleted.

Why is this space needed?

This space is needed to allow 2SLGBTQIA+ ELT professionals and allies to come together in a safe space to collaborate, share, lobby and support each other. Together we are stronger.

Who is it for?

  • Any 2SLGBTQIA+ ELT professional (teacher, writer, editor, researcher, academic, and more) anywhere in the world who would like to see representation of 2SLGBTQIA+ identities in ELT materials and classrooms and who may feel let down and unsupported by the industry in general.
  • Any 2SLGBTQIA+ ELT professional who may feel that their voice isn’t heard; particularly with an identity which is intersectional.
  • Any ELT professional ally to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community anywhere in the world who would like to see representation of 2SLGBTQIA+ identities in ELT materials and classrooms and who would like to lend their voice and support.

What can you expect from I am not a taboo!?

  • a central hub with a list of publications, including reference books, resources and journal articles
  • a community forum for support and discussion
  • a blog, with real-life accounts of the effects of invisibility, and success stories
  • helping allies
  • an intention to represent different voices
